I've never found any songs by Greenday particularly catchy, and I don't own a single of their CDs or their mp3s. Still, this one caught my attention after I realized the lyrics were pretty similar to one of my MSN nicks (I walk a lonely road in quiet desperation), so I must've subconsciously registered the lyrics.
