I scrambled over a barnacle encrusted branch at one of the small mangrove areas down at Pasir ris, and probably cut myself on the edges. Of course, I didn't realise this, mainly because it didn't hurt (at first), until Patrick quite matter-of-factly pointed out my ankle was bleeding. Which was a bit gross at first because there was all the other gunk (algae, mud... whatever, etc.) on my ankle as well. Anyway, didn't turn out to be as bad when it was cleaned up.
Nonetheless, the swampy areas of a beach are excellent places to watch small marine life. I think I spent about 15 minutes staring at hermit crabs at one point of time.
But I digress. Kids, watch out for barnacles. They cut. If you're thinking about barefooting it over those barnacle covered rocks - Don't. Like stepping on broken glass.
