Popularity.

It's a curse. Assumption: 1) Everyone wants to be popular, secretly. 2) Everyone secretly resents people who are more popular than they are. Conclusion: This gives rise to a lot of hypocrites, because if you wanna get anywhere, you have to be popular. What do I mean by this? a) You want to be popular, but b) you hate people who are popular too. Ergo, hypocrite.

What does this mean for popular people? There are people out there plotting their downfall. There are people sucking up to them, hoping to ride on the wings of their popularity. There are people out there who HATE them. It's difficult being popular, remaining popular, and once you leave the enviro and move off to somewhere else, there's no guarantee of being one having the same success with others as before. Being unknown after the fame and glory is a far fall and it's not pleasant.

Yet, it's necessary to be popular. I've said this MANY MANY times - Man is a social creature. He needs friends. Remove the human touch from anyone's life, and he'll wither. Not physically maybe, but emotionally, mentally, socially - he's dead, and the physical death would essentially follow after a while. Popularity ensures that you'll survive the rough stage we call life.
