Everytime. EVERYTIME I HAVE SOMETHING LONG TO SAY, BLOGSPOT SCREWS UP.
Alright. Let's see what I can remember as far as what I typed went. Item one: I went to watch X2. That leads to Item Two: My opinion on it.
The sfx, the fighting sequences, the filming is superb. The storyline, in considering the movie by itself, is excellent. It blew me away, frankly. I especially loved the way Magneto broke out of his plastic prison. He's my new favourite mutant. However, and you know I'm getting to the bad news, I don't like what they did with the original story. I sat through the last half-hour of the movie, screaming: "I hate this movie! I hate this movie!" Ask Joel if you don't believe me.
Right, why I hate it. I hate it because I'm a rigid, uptight puritan, and not in a religious sense. I hate it when films don't follow true to their original storylines. The timing is all wrong, and the name-dropping is a bit ludicrous after awhile. Yes, I see mutants that are yet to be. But you're already working with a huge cast. Adding more mutants isn't going to make the movie any better. Or maybe it will... then all the fans can finally see human counterparts to their favourite characters. Gambit with his red-eyes and lady killer charm. But, yeah, anyway, too many characters. That's why there's so little character development. Cyclops had hardly any screen time, and he came off as largely ineffectual. He ought to shave cleaner too. And it isn't always about Wolverine. Wolverine this, Wolverine that. ARGH. Hugh Jackman is very, very hot, but I'm kinda sick of this whole obsession with Wolverine. There are other X-men. Speaking of which, what's the point of naming a character when you can't identify it?
"Hey, I was Jubilee in X2!"
"Really? Which kid were you?"
I mean... how do you tell? What's Colussus (or whatever it's spelt) doing at the institute?
